Getting the opportunity to work on a site like this, with a view like this doesn’t come up often. And it is exciting when it does. But it didn’t come without its challenges. The budget was tight. The view was critical and the site conditions were difficult. Working with a modular truss podium system, helped us deal with the 8m drop at the edge of the rocky outcrop, and brought us up to the prime viewing platform. A tight floor area meant many re-workings to get the most of the space for the clients requirements, including a 12 person spa, sitting right on the edge of the upper floor deck. The engineering was intensive. The finish of variegated grey-green corrugated walls, take inspiration from the beauty in the surrounding environment.
The Builder, Econstruct completed construction in 2011.
From the entrance level it nestles into its backdrop. From below it floats in the trees.
