Hampton Development

A workers cottage, crafted from Fremantle limestone, iconic in this precinct juxtaposes against its addition. Corrugated iron, well renowned in the Australian vernacular delineates the old from the new.

The site was split and a double storey dwelling was sculpted with the sun in mind. The symmetry innate to that period is mirrored in the new residence, though its central living spaces welcome the light and are flanked by its courtyards. The plan hints at tradition, but responds to its environment.
